And since I knew there are a few out there who wants to read it, and since I'm too lazy to post it on fanfiction.net or anywhere, I'll be putting it here. c:
There are probably some grammar issues and perhaps some misspelled words/words that shouldn't be there, but that shouldn't be a problem, ne?
It has no title, but here. Have a Gold/Ruby Pokemon Special Fanfic~
“I’m going out to play! I’ll be back before dinner, bye!”
“Be safe and have fun, Ru--”
Before the mother was able to even finish her sentence, the five year-old boy and his three Pokemon were already out the door. The mother sighed lightly, shaking her head as to how energetic the little boy was. He was always ready for adventures, and battled the Pokemon around the lively city of Goldenrod, where the boy had ventured out to. Smiling lightly, the mother turned back to the kitchen sink she was cleaning dishes at, as she heard that all too familiar voice just right outside the door. It was none other than the boy telling his Pokemon that it was time to head out.
“Let’s go to the route between Goldenrod and the National Park today!” the boy, Ruby, told his three comrades cheerfully. Ruby’s Pokemon were actually not from the region of Johto - where Goldenrod resided. Instead, they had came from the region of Hoenn, where his father had gotten his Pokemon in the first place. Nana the Poochyena, Coco the Skitty, and Ruru the Ralts all nodded their heads in agreement, before the boy grinned.
“Hopefully we’ll find something to battle today! Come on!”
With that said, the three Pokemon then followed the young trainer, as he set out towards Route 35.
“Alright, Gold! We’re here!”
The young eight-year boy hopped out of the SUV that his mother drove from New Bark Town to Goldenrod City. Having had wanted to go shopping in the lively city, and Gold wanting to explore, the two set out early morning, to hopefully get to the city by lunch time. With luck (and with quite the speedy driving), they had.
“Let’s go explore, Ataro!” Gold then called out to his Aipom in the SUV. Nodding its head, it jumped out, landing on Gold’s shoulders. Gold went and took out his skateboard before looking at his mom.
“Alright, I’m going, see you!” he called out. His mom simply nodded, telling him to be back around dinner. Not exactly hearing what she said, he nodded, before setting his skateboard down and riding off on it.
It wasn’t long until he arrived at the edge of Goldenrod City, back towards the route that they were just riding on.
The route was as active as the city Gold was just in, with people coming to and from and National Park up ahead. Riding on his skateboard, Gold weaved between the people and Pokemon, trying his best not to run into anyone. He didn’t want to get in trouble before he got to the Park. Ataro clung to his hat, enjoying the feel of the wind as the two progressed through the crowd.
Eventually, the young boy got to the end of the route, in front of the gate to the National Park. To the right of him was the grassy part of the route, with trees surrounding the grassy portion. Gold took a quick glance over at that direction, before getting off his skateboard and picking it up. It was only two steps though, before he heard someone in the forest.
He turned, not seeing anyone. However, the voice caused his curiosity to rise, as the voice sounded young. Now, why would a young voice be coming from the forest? He took a look around, noticing that the policemen didn’t take heed of the voice. Lazy bums they were. Well, if anyone was going to go and figure out who it was in there, it might as well be Gold. He settled his skateboard against the closest tree to the route, before moving on it to the grassy part.
At first he stayed near the entrance, but seeing that there was nothing around there, Gold started venturing more into the grassy area of the route, eventually turning so that he couldn’t see the beginning, where he had placed his skateboard. He didn’t realize that he had gotten so far until Ataro poked him, and pointed back from where they came from. Gold rose an eyebrow, before telling Ataro that they would find their way back, and that it wouldn’t be too hard.
It was harder than it looked, though.
After figuring that whatever sound he heard wasn’t around anymore (perhaps his mom picked him up), Gold turned and started to try to head back to his skateboard. The sun above was finished with being high in the sky, and was starting to settle down for the day. This worried Gold’s buddy Ataro for a moment, but Gold figured ‘ah, we’ll make it out in time.’
Once figuring that out, a sound was heard from nearby. This wasn’t the sound that Gold heard in the first place, though, as it was the sound of something buzzing about. Gold didn’t take notice of this sound, but Ataro grew weary of it, keeping an eye out for anything that might attack (it was quite the miracle a Pokemon haven’t attacked them yet).
Ataro and Gold had figured out why just that moment later.
A swarm of Yanma had taken over the vicinity of the grassy part of the route, probably keeping the other Pokemon away. A group of them spotted the boy and the Pokemon walking around, trying to find their way back, and started to fly closer. Gold still hadn’t taken notice but Ataro, looking behind and seeing the group of about ten Yanma, quickly darted forward. The Aipom was about to warn his friend, when a voice from around the trees came forward.
Gold, hearing the voice, turning and noticed the Yanma darting right at him. Gold dived down to dodge their incoming attack, and watched as they darted overhead, missing their target. Gold sighed in relief, but before turning, the Yanma quickly noticed that they had missed their target, and turned around to send a Sonicboom.
Ataro, wanting to defend his partner, jumped in front of the boy. It was unnecessary, as right before the Yanmas were about to unleash their Sonicbooms, the same voice came from the trees.
“Nana! Take Down!”
A puppy Pokemon, different from the ones that Gold had seen, jumped from the trees, heading right at the Yanmas. Taking a few of the Yanmas down, and startling the others, the puppy Pokemon landed on the other side of the grassy portion of the route between the trees, turned, and waited for another command from her trainer.
“Ruru, Confusion! Coco, Iron Tail!”
Two more Pokemon that Gold haven’t seen came from the trees as well, using their own attack to take down their targets. Eventually, after all three of the Pokemon were finished, all ten Yanmas scattered after they had been brought down to the ground. Gold widened his eyes. Who was this trainer that was in charge of these Pokemon? He had to meet this person.
Little did he know, that when the kid walked out, it was only a five-year old, with a few cuts and scratches, and his clothing all dirty. Gold almost felt his jaw drop at this. Was this really the kid that took down Ten Yanmas that easily?
The boy looked at Gold and grinned, “Are you okay? You don’t look hurt!”
“Did you really just take down all ten of those?” Gold blinked. The boy’s grin grew bigger.
“Yup! They may look like they're hard with their quick speed, but they’re really easy to take down after a while!” the boy replied. Gold slowly nodded his head, before looking at the three Pokemon that the boy used.
“And these are your Pokemon? They don’t look like they're from here.”
“That’s Coco, Nana, and Ruru. They’re not native here in Johto. They’re from this place called Hoenn,” Ruby replied, helping Gold up. “I got ‘em from my dad. Next week, my whole family will be going there so my dad can take the Gym Leader exam and become a Gym Leader.”
“Is that so?” Gold replied. Well, if this kid was going to be a son of a Gym Leader, that could be a reason why he was so strong. Not to forget that just the other day, Gold heard the news about an eleven-year old becoming Champion of the Pokemon League. Maybe that eleven-year old was like this kid in front of him, and was also strong at a young age?
Finally, Gold smiled at the boy. “You’re strong at your age. I like that! Just like that new Champion in Kanto, we need stronger people in this world!”
Ruby smiled. “Well, I ain’t my dad’s son for nothing. He was the one who showed me!” Ruru then tugged on Ruby’s shirt, before showing him the sky. The sun was quickly settling more, and it was not long until the night Pokemon would appear. Ruby turned to Gold.
“Do you live in Goldenrod City?”
“No. I live in New Bark Town. My mom wanted to go shopping here today, so we drove here,” Gold replied, Ataro giving him notice to the same thing, “I should be heading back now.”
“I’ll show you the way!” Ruby replied. “I live in Goldenrod, and I’ve been here many times, so I can take you back to the city!”
Gold grinned, “Thanks! I owe you one!”
The two boys started to head back to the people part of the route. Along the way, a few night Pokemon, glad that the Yanma had left, started to come out. The two defended themselves as they went along, and eventually, they got to Gold’s skateboard. Picking it up, the two quickly came back to Goldenrod City, finishing their Journey at the Department Store.
“My mom should be inside,” Gold replied, “Let’s go, Ataro!” The Aipom nodded his head, before Gold started to walk inside the store. He then turned to the boy who helped him.
“Again, I owe you! Next time I see you, I’ll be the one helping you!”
Ruby grinned and nodded his head, waving goodbye to his new friend. He then settled in going back home, just in time for dinner. As he walked into his house, his mother gave him a disapproving look.
“Ruby! You’re a mess! Clean up before you eat dinner!” his mom scolded. Ruby grinned, looking at his three Pokemon.
“Can’t I eat dinner first?” Ruby then asked. His mom shook his head, before pushing him to the bathtub. While the little boy was getting ready to take his bath to get clean, his mom started up the water, and soon enough he was in the bathtub.
“Mom! Guess what happened today!” Ruby exclaimed, while he was splashing water at the puppy Pokemon on the edge of the bathtub. His mom wanted to scold him for making water go onto the floor, but she looked at her son first.
Gold entered the Department Store and saw his mom coming down the stairs with a few bags of merchandise. Seeing him, she smiled and walked over to him.
“Gold! You’re a little dirty! I’m guessing you had some fun?” his mother asked. Gold nodded his head, smiling.
“Guess what happened today, Mom! I had quite the adventure!” Gold replied. His mom tilted her head.
“Oh? What’s that, Gold?”
“Today I met up with this kid and saved him from getting attacked by Yanmas!” Ruby explained.
“Today I met with his younger kid who saved me from getting attacked by Yanmas!” Gold told his mother.
“Is that so, Ruby?” his mom asked.
“Oh really, Gold?” asked his mom.
“Yup! And then I helped him back to Goldenrod City! He said I was strong for my age, mom!” Ruby then said, grinning.
“Then he helped me back here to Goldenrod City! He’s strong for his age, you know. He looked like he was only five!” Gold then explained, flailing his arms in the age.
“Sounds like you had a good time today, Ruby!” His mom said, smiling.
“That certainly sounds like an adventure!” Gold’s mom grinned at him.
“Now what was the boy’s name?”
Both Ruby and Gold had stopped talking to their moms at this point. Neither of them had asked for each other’s names! They only knew their Pokemons’ names, and even that was a blurry.
“Ah, I forgot to ask!”
“Shoot! I knew I was forgetting something!”
Both mothers had blinked, before sighing at their children. They were so caught up in the moment that they had forgotten.
“Well, after we get back from Hoenn, maybe you’ll see him again! Then you can ask his name!”
"Next time we go to Goldenrod, you can play with him and ask for his name!”
Both of the boys nodded their heads, smiling. They’ll definitely meet up again, and when they do, they’ll ask for each other names!
“But let’s go eat dinner now, Ruby. I think you’re all clean now.”
“It’s time to head back home for now, Gold”
[Few Years Later]
“Hey! Prissy Boy!”
Ruby turned his head, hearing the n Senior Gold had given him. He brushed Coco’s fur a few more times before standing up and looking at the incoming male.
“What is it?” Ruby asked.
“Where did you learn to battle like that? I was sure a Prissy boy like you would be pounded by Green in an instant!” Gold explained. Ruby rubbed the back of his head.
“I don’t know what you mean. I lost against Senior Green,” Ruby replied. Gold frowned, breaking the Coordinator’s personal bubble as he got up to his face.
“Don’t play dumb, Prissy Boy!” Gold scowled, “Some of those counters against Green’s Pokemon weren’t something that a normal Prissy Boy would know. I knew you were strong enough to handle the Ultimate Move, but some of those counters were beyond ordinary!”
Ruby backed up from the male in order to get some space. However, he didn’t say anything, as he exactly didn’t know how to respond to that. Since the turn of events back in Fortree City, and having to defend the Hoenn region, Ruby had grown more open in his battling skills. But for someone to confront him this much about it, other than Sapphire back at Fortree?
“I learned from my Dad,” Ruby had finally said, right as Gold was about to give up trying to get an answer from the boy. “Before his first attempt at trying to become the Gym Leader, that is.”
Gold rose an eyebrow. “Gym Leader?”
Ruby nodded his head, “My dad is the Gym Leader of the Petalburg City gym in Hoenn. He taught me how to battle, after giving me my three Pokemon.”
The Breeder blinked. For some reason, this seemed familiar, but he couldn’t make it out. He glanced over at Coco, who was sitting next to Ruby.
“And was this Pokemon one of them?” Gold asked, pointing at Coco. Ruby looked down at his Delcatty, before nodding once again.
“Yeah. Coco was one of them. Along with Nana and Ruru, my Mightyena and Kirlia.”
“Coco… Nana… Ruru…” Gold muttered. Now, other than Ruby having had used those names in battle or while
Just then, the same Delcatty that was sitting next to Ruby was now at Gold’s feet, purring. Both of the trainers blinked, quite confused on why Coco was affectionate to Gold.
“It seems… Coco knows you,” Ruby replied. But how could his Delcatty know where else to have seen Gold…
Gold stared at the Cat Pokemon for a while, “Prissy Boy… did Coco evolve?”
“If you mean evolve from another Pokemon, yeah,” Ruby replied, “Coco evolved from Skitty, with a Moon Stone.”
And that’s when it clicked in Gold’s head. He looked at Ruby with a bit of disbelief. Would this kid, who seems to know how to battle, but would rather not, really the boy who he met few years back. Ruby looked at Gold’s look of disbelief.
“What is it?” Ruby asked, frowning slightly. Did he not believe that Coco evolved from another Pokemon?
Gold, getting closer to Ruby once again, then bent over at him, giving him a good stare.
“You can’t be…” Gold muttered, “Are you from Johto, Prissy Boy?”
“How did you know?” Ruby asked, quite confused.
“Prove it; what is the Pokemon that Swarms the Route between the National Park and Goldenrod.”
“It’s Yanma, isn’t it? That weird Bug Pokemon?”
There was a silence from the both of them. Gold had even more of a disbelieved face on, while Ruby was still quite confused on why Gold was asking so many questions.
“You liked battling when you were younger, didn’t you?” Gold finally responded. Ruby’s eyes widened.
“How did you…”
Gold grinned, before backing off from the boy. “To think, you’re the boy that saved me back at Goldenrod. Well, looks like I kept my word.”
Ruby blinked. Anything before the event was the Salamence was a blur to him, no thanks to the trauma he received.
“Looks like Dinner is about to be ready. Come on, we should go and get something to eat, Ruby.” Gold interrupted, looking to the side. Ruby was even more confused now. Did Gold really just call him ‘Ruby’ and not ‘Prissy boy’? Nevertheless, Ruby slowly nodded his head in agreement, and the two of them headed to the Dinner Table. Gold was a bit disappointed that Ruby didn’t seem to remember their encounter, but at the same time, he was glad that he was finally able to learn the boy’s name.
‘And now I can tell my mom who he was… and who knows. Maybe one day, Ruby himself will remember.’
